An on-grid solar system, or grid-tied system, is a solar setup directly connected to the public electricity grid, using solar panels to generate power for your home or business and sending any excess energy back to the grid for credits (net metering). It's the most common type, offering lower costs and continuous power by using the utility grid as a virtual battery, but it stops working during grid outages for safety.
